Has anyone noticed the drastic drop in participation since the new format?
I'm not complaining and admittedly I have NO skills in this area (if you want to know how to tag a seal or turtle, I'm your girl!), but was just curious why we switched. I thought we had enough money to run on tripod for a while.
Us old people don't like change, you know?! |

Trust me I hear ya. So here is the low-down.
With TriPod money somehow became an issue when we started hosting photos... a ton of photos! There was some panic just before the reunion with the monthly bill so I offered to host it and try to add to it. Personally I found the old format hard to get around in. Granted the new format still copies a lot of the old site which I will be working on fixing.
There have been a lot of problems with the new site. The update profile stopped working when mine & Stacie's Hotmail no longer accepted e-mails from the site. This went unnoticed for about 2-4 months... still not really sure how long. I think that was the overall contributer to the drastic drop. All in all we have recieved 5 updates in the past 5 days which I wouldnt consider bad.
There have been only a few people who have stepped up to help, to the few that have I would like to thank you! Honestly this site would probably run a lot smoother if I wasn't in charge. Personally I'm still trying to figure out how that happened.
There are some positives to the new site. Overall the new format is fairly easy to manage, just very tedious to get everything entered (which is still to this day incomplete). Everything is in a database and can be sorted pretty easily. The admin side looks a ton better than the user side which I will be working on to switch it over. Granted everything hasnt always been working properly, especially when we have gone through two server moves and about to go to another. Also classmembers who have sent me photos to put on the site have recieved info on how to upload their photos themselves when they have new ones.
Something else to consider is the world of Social Networking. Two years ago no one had heard of MySpace, Friendster, Xanga or any other Social Networking site... There are so many new ways for all of us to keep in touch. |
